my classmates, Volozhyn Tarbut school graduate’s
All of them murdered at the age of seventeen:
Berl Tsart, my best comrade, killed at seventeen,
Eyzer Finger, the sportsman at the age of eighteen,
Frumke Alperovich the graceful, murdered at seventeen,
Benzike the heart breaker, the talented Voolke Brudno,
Feygl Kleyn, Sonia Perski, both young and beautiful
and many others, would they forgive me for not mentioning their name,
all of them murdered at the eve of their life, slaughtered at seventeen.
Almighty, avenge the pure innocents’ river of blood!
